Boderne – Beach, dunes and a quiet coastal hideaway

Boderne – Beach and dunes

Boderne is a small, peaceful settlement in the south of Bornholm, best known for its wide, natural beach surrounded by dunes. It’s a place for those seeking silence and open space – no crowds, no loud attractions, just the soothing sound of the waves and an open view across the Baltic Sea. Boderne offers the pure essence of island calm.

The character and atmosphere of Boderne

Boderne has preserved the feel of a small seaside settlement, where the rhythm of the day is set by the wind, the sea and the weather. The beach here is wide and natural, changing with the seasons – sometimes more sandy, sometimes scattered with pebbles, but always wild and a little untamed. It’s a perfect place for long walks, reading among the dunes and simply watching the sea.

Small parking, the beach...

In the centre of the village there is a small parking area, the beach, and a modest seasonal food stand that operates mainly in summer. Apart from that, Boderne remains largely unchanged – with no dense development or commercial bustle, making it easy to feel the space and tranquillity.

Boderne Beach

Boderne Beach is one of the most natural and “wild” beaches on Bornholm, surrounded by dunes and coastal vegetation. Ideal for long walks and being close to nature.

View of the open sea

Boderne lies directly on the open Baltic, offering wide, uninterrupted sea views – especially beautiful at sunset.

Atmosphere

The gentle scale of the houses and landscape gives the place an intimate and peaceful feel, even in the summer months.

Location and surroundings

Boderne is located on the southern coast of Bornholm, among dunes, pine scrub and open coastal landscapes. It feels pleasantly “remote”, even though it is just a short drive from Aakirkeby.

What to see nearby

Good to know
  • Boderne Beach is less developed than Dueodde or Balka – a plus for those seeking nature and quiet
  • It’s a great spot for birdwatching and watching the shifting light over the sea, especially at sunrise and sunset
  • The winds can be stronger here than inland – a light jumper can be useful even in summer
