Merchant’s House Erichsens Gard Museum
In the historic part of Rønne, among narrow streets and colorful half-timbered houses, lies the charming Erichsens Gård Merchant’s House – a place full of nostalgia and the atmosphere of old Bornholm.

Erichsens Gård Merchant’s House – a charming journey back to 19th-century Rønne
Erichsens Gård holds a special place in Bornholm’s artistic and cultural history. The well-known painter Kristian Zahrtmann – a native of Bornholm – once lived here, as did his friend, the artist and poet Holger Drachmann, who found refuge in the house after a dispute with his father.
The house has retained its original character and charm – from wooden floors to classic interiors. In the garden and kitchen, visitors can experience the spirit of the era, enjoying homemade pancakes, coffee, or tea surrounded by flowers and old trees. Guests are also welcome to bring their own picnic and dine in the garden, soaking up the tranquil atmosphere.
Did you know?
The Erichsens Gård house and garden are open to visitors from May to October – on Fridays and Saturdays. During the summer season (Monday to Thursday, 10:00–15:00), the garden can be visited free of charge. It’s one of the few places on Bornholm where you can not only explore the authentic interiors of a 19th-century home but also relax in its garden – just as the residents of Rønne did more than a hundred years ago.
How to get there
Erichsens Gård is located in the historic center of Rønne, just a few minutes’ walk from the port and the Bornholm Museum. It can be reached on foot, by car (parking available near the center), or by bus – BAT bus stops are within short walking distance.
