DBJ – Bornholm Railway Museum

Bornholms Museum Jernbanen, also known as the DBJ Museum, is a unique place dedicated to the history of the railway on Bornholm. It is located in the port area of Nexø, right where one of the island’s main railway lines once ran. The museum was founded by the DBJ Association, whose members passionately collect and restore memorabilia from the former railway network that operated between 1900 and 1968. The exhibition features original infrastructure elements as well as an extensive collection of photographs, maps, and models of historic trains.

One of the museum’s most valuable exhibits is the restored DBJ postal carriage no. 26 – the only surviving vehicle from the Bornholm railway. On the museum grounds, you can also find a small station building that lets you experience the atmosphere of travel from over a century ago. It’s a place not only for railway enthusiasts but for anyone who wants to explore an important chapter of Bornholm’s history and see how the railway shaped everyday life on the island for decades.
