Public transport on Bornholm is well organized and adapted to the needs of both residents and tourists. The main means of transport are BAT buses, which run regularly between the island’s largest towns such as Rønne, Nexø, Svaneke, Gudhjem, and Allinge-Sandvig. The bus routes also cover smaller villages, making it easy to reach most tourist attractions, beaches, and hiking trails.
During the summer season, the network is expanded with additional services, making it easier to explore the island without a car. The buses are modern, comfortable, and punctual, and timetables are available at bus stops and tourist information points. It’s a practical and eco-friendly way to travel around Bornholm – perfect for those who wish to discover the island at a relaxed pace and enjoy its natural charm.
For visitors without their own transport, buses are the perfect way to explore the island. The regional BAT network consists of 9 bus lines, with line no. 1 having an additional variant 1A. In Rønne, city buses no. 22 and 23 also operate, and for night travelers, lines 1N and 6N are available.

Bornholm uses a zone-based fare system – the ticket price depends on the number of zones between the starting and destination zones (up to 5 zones). Each bus stop has a map showing 17 zones divided into 5 color-coded fare groups:
| Red | 1 zone |
| Orange | 2 zones |
| Yellow | 3 zones |
| Green | 4 zones |
| Blue | 5 zones |
If two zone numbers are shown for your destination (e.g. 20/31),
the lower number applies, which is more favorable for the passenger.
Example: Rønne (zone 10) to Gudhjem (zone 41) includes 4 zones, even if the route includes a transfer through Allinge or Aakirkeby.
Example: Rønne (zone 10) via Dueodde (zone 54) to Gudhjem (zone 41) requires a 5-zone fare, as the route covers 5 zones from the starting point (zone 10).
Passengers must keep a valid ticket for the entire journey – it may be checked by an inspector.
| Zone Passes (Klippekort) |
The pass includes 10 trips and is valid for the number of zones purchased (1–5). Several people traveling together can use the same pass. The ticket must be stamped in the machine at the bus entrance – it prints the date, time, and zone. |
| 1-Day Ticket (1-dags kort) |

| 4-Day Ticket (4-dags kort) |

| Weekly Ticket (7-dages kort) |
